Toler scored the first field goal and first free throw in WNBA history, sinking a jumper for the Sparks in the league's inaugural game on June 21, 1997. She played four seasons in Los Angeles before transitioning into the front office, becoming Sparks general manager in 1999 and building the roster that won back-to-back championships in 2001 and 2002.
